Howard Freedman will share a variety of short film clips that demonstrate how immigrant Jews were represented in films of the silent era, ranging from admiring portraits to prejudiced caricatures.
Note that the image quality of some of these films will leave much to be desired.
Howard Freedman has served since 2009 as director of the Jewish Community Library. He has written the Off the Shelf column on books in J. The Jewish News of Northern California since 2012.
Program made possible, in part, by Denise Selleck.
