Ayelet Tsabari: Songs for the Brokenhearted

In 1950, Yemeni Jews Saida and Yaqub enter into a forbidden romantic relationship in an overcrowded immigrant camp in the newly created State of Israel. Nearly a half century later, Saida’s adult daughter Zohara, now living in New York with little contact with her family, returns to Israel upon receiving word of her mother’s death, and finds herself on an unexpected journey to learn hidden truths about the world she came from.
