“When Moses led us from slavery to freedom, he would not have imagined that after three thousand years the Jews of the world would annually commemorate their journey through the Sinai desert and the miracle of the Red Sea. Nor could he have envisioned that a small town on the other side of the world would bear a French version of his name in a Spanish-speaking country.”

Based on his decades of leading travelers to Jewish communities across the globe, Ariel Goldstein’s From Moses to Moisesville is a fascinating journey through a world where Jews, regardless of regional language or culture, have managed to maintain a particularly Jewish essence from generation to generation.

Born in Uruguay, Ariel Goldstein studied in Montevideo and graduated from the Israel School of Tourism in Jerusalem. After working for six years as a tour guide in Israel, he moved to the United States, where he developed and led educational trips to South America, North Africa, and the Persian Gulf. In 2007 he founded the Travel Program at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, which he directed for a decade, leading Jewish-themed tours throughout Israel, Europe, Latin America, China, India, Africa and the United States. He founded his own travel company, Tiyul – Jewish Journeys, in 2017.
